Support the Fair Elections Now Act
In April 2009, Assistant Senate Majority Leader Richard Durbin (D-Ill.) and Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), along with Reps. John Larson (D-Conn.) and Walter Jones (R-N.C.) have introduced the Fair Elections Now Act (S.752, H.R.1826) in Congress. The legislation would bring a Clean Elections-modeled program to congressional races.

The Community Reinvestment Modernization Act of 2009 strengthens CRA as applied to banks by requiring CRA exams in the geographic areas banks serve, even if they don't have branches. It will explicitly consider lending and services to minorities in addition to LMI communities, expands CRA to non-bank financial institutions including independent mortgage companies, mortgage company affiliates of banks, securities firms, mainstream credit unions and insurance companies.
